On August 13, the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, opened a temporary modular town in the hero city of Irpin in Kyiv region, on the territory of the “Dubky” sanatorium.
“Today, the temporary modular town “Dubky” was opened in the hero city of Irpin. I hope that the conditions created here will be warm and cozy for the people of Irpin. I spoke frankly with the residents and asked them about urgent problems and needs. It is our duty to help to solve these problems. Within a year, local authorities and the Government must provide people with housing for permanent residence. Thanks to the children who made us happy in such a difficult time. I am also sincerely grateful to the Polish government for its help!” — emphasized Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The settlement consists of 88 residential modules designed for 352 people. The town has toilet and shower rooms (separately for men and women), dining rooms and other common areas. People who lost their homes because of hostilities will live there. The list of residents for settlement is formed by hromadas. The maintenance of the town is undertaken by the local government.
“In this town, for the first time, we added many elements that are important for a comfortable life:
We will do everything to make these innovations available in the following towns as well. That’s why we invited the heads of hromadas where we are already building new modular towns to the opening,” Oleksiy Chernyshov noted.
According to the Minister, the focus is now on the de-occupied hromadas. Right now, hromadas need such modules for those who have been deprived of their homes by the enemy. Oleksiy Chernyshov pointed out that the Government is now actively developing medium- and long-term options for solving housing needs and restoring the damaged housing stock in the de-occupied territories.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to international partners and friends, in particular the Government of Poland, who, in such a difficult time for Ukraine, provide support to our refugees and participate in the placement of IDPs on the territory of Ukraine.
Let us remind that earlier such modular towns were opened in Lviv, Borodyanka, Buch and Makarov.
