The Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, held the fifth meeting of the Headquarters on the preparation of housing and communal services and the fuel-energy complex for the autumn-winter period of 2022/23.
“It is already the middle of August now and we are entering the final part of the preparation for the heating season. Readiness for the heating period is a valuation of our joint, coordinated, consistent work with you. The government ensured financial capacity and price stability. At this meeting of the Headquarters, the key issue on the agenda is the balance of energy resources,” said Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Ukraine, Yury Vitrenko, outlined his vision of the situation regarding the accumulation of energy resources.
“One of the key aspects of preparing for the autumn-winter period is the accumulation of energy resources. Our task is to create a sufficient volume of gas for a stable heating season,” said Yuriy Vitrenko.
As of August 11, as a result of Russia’s armed aggression on the territory of Ukraine, 327 critical infrastructure facilities in the field of heat supply were affected, namely: 316 boiler houses (304 damaged and 12 destroyed), 10 combined heat and power plants (6 damaged and 4 destroyed) and 1 thermal power plant. 158 heat supply facilities have already been restored (156 boiler houses and 2 CHP plants in Mykolaiv and Sumy), or 48.3% of the total number of affected facilities.
Also, at the Headquarters, they heard reports about the state of financing from the reserve fund of the state budget for the reconstruction of destroyed facilities of centralized heat supply in the city of Okhtyrka of the Sumy region, in the city of Kremenchuk of the Poltava region and in the city of Chernihiv, as well as the provision of payments aimed at measures to prepare for the autumn-winter period (fuel, equipment, alternative fuels).
“Gas is a weapon. The more of these weapons we have, the better for our energy system. We must provide ourselves with a reserve of energy resources to be ready for any future developments,” summed up Oleksiy Chernyshov.
Let us remind that at the fourth meeting of the Headquarters, Oleksiy Chernyshov reported that more than half of the infrastructure is prepared for the heating season, and also emphasized that careful preparation for the heating season is part of the defense of the state.
